Structure

LAWS Offices & Staff

LAWS has offices at both the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and four staff positions: Director, two Coordinators, and a Program Assistant. One Coordinator is based at each law school, working closely with their faculty and students. The LAWS Director spends time at both law schools, and our Program Assistant is based at the University of Toronto.

Law student program assistants from each law school are employed in full-time positions over the summer and part-time positions during the school year and provide program coordination and administrative support.

Law School, Justice Sector & High School Partners

LAWS is a partnership between the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, and the Toronto District School Board. Each law school works comprehensively with LAWS partner high schools in their own neighbourhoods. Currently LAWS partners with seven TDSB high schools, and LAWS staff work closely with teachers and guidance staff at each school to ensure our programming is responsive to their particular students’ needs.

LAWS programming is delivered in collaboration with more than 45 TDSB principals, teachers and guidance counselors, and over 350 justice sector volunteers including law students, judges, professors, lawyers and other legal professionals.

Law School Oversight, Support & Collaboration

LAWS receives considerable support and assistance from senior administration and other staff from both of its law school partners.  LAWS also collaborates as much as possible with other law school programs and initiatives, such as the University of Toronto Faculty of Law’s International Human Rights Program and The David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights, and Osgoode Hall Law School’s CLASP Legal Clinic and OPIR, the Osgoode Public Interest Requirement.
